Why I write

Kids grow up so fast (and I have a really bad memory) I want to remember all these treasured moments that we have.  Even though I usually write about the good times, I also don’t want to forget the struggle of being a dad so you’ll probably read a post or two about my frustrations as well.

 When I write

Only when inspired.  I’ve tried to write on certain days of the week, or certain number of times per week, or on days ending in the letter ‘y’ but that has led to less than inspiring posts and pressure that puts family priorities out of whack.  So, I’m still constantly thinking about things I want to capture on this blog, but if I can’t get to it right away, I’ll just wait until life leaves me a little breathing space.  I do try to post once a week though, give or take.

    • Not at all! I checked out your blog and it looks great. Besides, as long as you like doing it, who cares what it looks like! I’m glad you found my blog, and I hope you enjoy reading! Thanks for dropping me a line, too. As a blogger, I’m sure you know how good it feels when people actually interact and comment on your blog!

  1. Have you ever considered writing a blog entry focused upon how you have forsaken your mother? You spin tales, “Look at me, look at me, am I not wonderful? I am such a good father, and husband”, and, well, everything but a good son. Perfection to you seems to be discarding anything in your life that is less than perfect. Turn your back, walk away.

    Call your mother!

Look in the mirror, once you get over being in love with yourself, I think you will find that you the person looking back at you is hardly worthy of emulation.

    • I would reply to this individually, but as you made up a fake email address to post this…
I’m afraid you are probably only hearing one side of the story. I have posted things about my relationship with my mom on this blog before and they have not gone over well for our relationship. I’m not perfect and I’ll be the first to admit that. I blog here about all of the things I want to remember forever about my kids, the good times, the cute things they do. As we know all too well, time flies and it is impossible to hang on to everything that has happened in the past. I appreciate your comments.
As for not calling my mom, she will be in town this weekend, and I do plan on calling her and getting together with her, but I just got her message yesterday…

      • It is possible that I may have in fact done you an injustice, and if this is so, I do apologize. You are right, I only hear one side of the story, but when the story is told by a sobbing women, ones baser instincts are invoked. The only thing I can say that I believe implicitly is that she misses her grandchildren terribly. Whatever else, the simple act of being able to hold them for a while would do so much for her well-being.

I thank you for the trying.

  3. Only it sounds extremely personal. Like a ribbing from a friend, but in such a public place. Not saying that the comment isn’t valid, of course. If the shoe fits . . .

What do you think?
